Anza-Borrego Desert State Park (Morteros Trail)

Only 84 miles from the San Diego Natural History Museum, Anza-Borrego Desert State Park offers you the opportunity to hike alongside a variety of cacti and desert wildlife. While visiting the park note the depressions in some of the rocks you encounter called morteros. Early native American people used these morteros to grind up plant material that they gathered nearby.
