Only 24 miles from the Museum, San Elijo Lagoon Ecological Reserve protects more than 700 plant and animal species on nearly 1,000 acres of coast wetlands habitat.

Located north of San Diego between Solana Beach and Encinitas, this reserve offers up to seven miles of trails for hiking or guided nature walks and the opportunity to see rare and migratory birds stopping along the Pacific Flyway. Join the Canyoneers for this and other guided hikes in southern California.
